ABOUT
I am an artist and illustrator, based in London, with over 30 years’ of professional experience, although I started drawing from the moment I could hold a pencil!
I was born and grew up in Zimbabwe and at an early age, knew that creativity was my passion in life and that I should explore and give free reign to my imagination. I have always had an unquenchable thirst for life and take my inspiration from many aspects of our wonderful world: fascinating people I have met; captivating books I have read; beautiful places visited; enchanting music listened to… the list is endless.
After graduating in Graphic Design from the University of Johannesburg, I began my career as an in-house corporate illustrator for various advertising and design agencies located in South Africa. I left South Africa in my early twenties to travel the world, before settling in New York and then London to pursue my career.
My drawings may be found in the pages of many publications, including books, magazines and greetings cards, always filled and delivered with warmth, colour, sensitivity and humour. I work in a variety of styles, including the use of acrylics; watercolour; gouache; coloured pencils; pastels; markers; pen and ink and monoprint.
Commissioned portraits are painted from quality photographs either supplied by the client, or taken by me.
Clients have included: Harpercollins Publishers; Piatkus Books; Reader's Digest; IPC Magazines Ltd; The National Magazine Company; Woman's Realm; Best; More!; Girl Talk; National Magazine House; EMAP Elan; BBC Worldwide.
I enjoy communicating with clients and am used to working with them to understand their specific requirements and to accommodate their deadlines. Most of all, I enjoy using my talents to produce something special for somebody: a unique article to be appreciated and treasured.
